It is to inform that the third Saturday of every month is designated as Swachha Andhra Day with the vision of achieving "Swarna Andhra Swachha Andhra" as per the Government Orders vide 1" read above and various programs organized as per the monthly themes assigned in the Operational Guidelines..
A Strong appeal for Swachatha was issued as a clarion call by the Hon'ble CM of AP, early this year. Launching the Swachh Andhra Swarna Andhra initiative, the Hon'ble CM urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to first focus on Purity of Thoughts, Mind and Body as cleanliness is next only to godliness and Swachhatha starts with an introspection of the quality of our own thoughts and actions.
The International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 every year and this year coincidentally it falls on the 3rd Saturday which is Swachha Andhra Day. The International Yoga Day is being hosted by Government of Andhra Pradesh with primary venue as Visakhapatnam wherein Hon'ble Prime Minister of India is scheduled to participate.
Yoga is not only about breathing, meditation, and exercise. It is about how we treat ourselves and others. Purity is the first of the five principles of Yoga sutra! This principle aligns with the vision of Hon'ble Chief Ministers in promoting Purity of Thoughts, Purity of Mind, Clean Body and Surroundings for a healthier and cleaner Andhra Pradesh.
On IYD Swachh Andhra Swarna Andhra appeals to focus on both our personal hygiene and community hygiene, which is the key principle behind Swachh Andhra Swarna Andhra monthly awareness drives.Some of the suggestive activities for the event day promoting yoga and aligning with SASA are:
1. Mass Yoga Sessions (6:30 AM-8:30 AM)
- At district HQs, Mandals, Wards and Villages
- Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) to be followed at all venues
- Participation by Public, SHGs, Students, Officials, Youth, NGOs and all walls of life.
2. Swachhata & Clean Venue Campaigns
- Clean-up drives at Yoga venues prior and after sessions.
- Keeping the shared spaces and office desks clean.
- Participation of sanitation workers, SHGs, and volunteers.
3. Tree Plantation Drives
- "Green Yoga" campaign: 1 Sapling per participant initiative
- Plantation at Schools, Secretariats, Parks & Office
4. Awareness Rallies & Thematic Performances
- Morning rallies with yoga slogans and eco-awareness messages
- Skits/songs/performances post Yoga sessions on Health and Hygiene
5. SASA Pledge Ceremony
A thought cleansing pledge involving employees and all citizens to
- Speak mindfully.
- Act responsibly.
- Maintain physical and mental cleanliness.
- Promote Swachh Bharat values at work and home
6. Art Competitions:
Competitions in Schools/Colleges on creating posters relating Yoga and SASA.
Drawing Competitions.
7. Talks & Film Screenings
- Invite guest speakers to talk on:
- "Yoga as a tool for inner cleanliness."
- "Gandhian Values: Cleanliness is next to Godliness."
