Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas Class XI Lateral Entry Selection Test for 2026-27

What are JNVs?

Established under the National Policy of Education (1986), JNVs are fully financed and administered by the Government of India through the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. These schools are renowned for providing modern education with a strong emphasis on culture, values, environmental awareness, adventure activities, and physical education, primarily to talented children from rural areas. Currently, 653 JNVs are functional across 27 States and 8 Union Territories (excluding Tamil Nadu).

Key Features that Make JNVs Stand Out:

 * Quality Modern Education: Focussed on rural talent.

 * Co-educational and Fully Residential: From Class VI to Class XII.

 * Free Education: This includes boarding, lodging, uniforms, and textbooks. A nominal Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi of Rs. 600/- per month is collected from students of Classes IX to XII, with exemptions for SC/ST, Divyang students, all girl students, and BPL families. Wards of Government employees (other than exempted categories) are charged Rs. 1500/- per month or actual Children Education Allowance received by the parent, whichever is less (not less than Rs. 600/-).

 * CBSE Affiliation: Ensuring a standardized and recognized curriculum.

 * Three-Language Formula: Promoting linguistic proficiency.

 * National Integration: A unique migration scheme where 30% of Class IX students from Hindi-speaking areas spend one academic year in a non-Hindi speaking area and vice versa, fostering a deeper understanding of India's diverse culture.
