ORDER:
In reference 1 cited above, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and the School Education Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. This collaboration aims to strengthen research, consultancy, education, training, and project-based learning, with a focus on improving student outcomes through structured training and mentorship programs.
Under this initiative, the "Vidyashakti" programme has been launched to support remedial learning for students and capacity-building for teachers. The pilot phase commenced on 9th December 2024 in the erstwhile Guntur and Chittoor districts and continued until the end of February 2025.
As per the MoU, it has been decided toscale up the Vidyashakti programme to 5000 schools across the state, which includes:
- 576 Residential Schools (KGBVS, APREIS institutions, and A.P. Model Schools)
- 4424 Non-residential Government Schools across all districts.
The Vidyashakti programme, implemented by the IITM Pravartak team, focuses primarily on remedial teaching in English, Mathematics, and Science Classes will be conducted live via Zoom from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, ensuring no. disruption to the regular school academic schedule.
Implementation Guidelines:
- Headmasters of identified schools shall appointtwo teachers as coordinators (on a rotation basis) for monitoring the classes one for each classroom.
- An Action Plan is enclosed as Annexure-3.
- Annexure-1 contains the list of Residential Schools and Annexure-2 lists the Non-Residential Schools.
- In addition to core subjects, sessions will be conducted oncareer guidance, personality development, and yoga.
- "Champion Badges" will be awarded monthly to the best-performing students.
- Assessments will be conducted regularly to monitor student progress.
- Attendance will be tracked using the LEAP App.
Schedule:
- The Vidya shakti classes will commence from theschool reopening day, i.e., 12th June 2025.
- From 12th to 21st June, sessions will focus on Yoga and wellness, aligned with International Yoga Day (21st June)
- From 23rd June onwards, regular subject-based remedial sessions will begin.
Headmasters are instructed to submit the details of appointed coordinators in the prescribed format (Annexure-4) after the posting of new teacher's post-transfer counselling.
Orientation for these classes will be conducted in the last week of June. All identified coordinators from all selected schools will have to attend this orientation based on the further orders from this office.
All District Educational Officers (DEOs) are directed to closely monitor the implementation of the Vidya shakti programme in their respective districts, and also assign one point of contact for Vidya shakti monitoring at the district level, and ensure its effective and successful execution for the benefit of students.
