The Director of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, has released the academic calendar for the year 2025-26, which includes a detailed schedule for the first self-assessment (FA 1) examinations. The proceedings, issued by Sri V. Vijay Rama Raju, IAS, outline the dates, timings, and patterns for both primary (classes 1-5) and secondary (classes 6-10) classes.

Formative Assessment 1 (FA 1) Timetable

The FA 1 exams for both primary and secondary students are scheduled to take place from August 11 to August 14, 2025.

Primary Classes (1-5)

 * August 11, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): Telugu (1st Language)

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): Mathematics

 * August 12, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): English

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): Environmental Science

 * August 13, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): OSSC

Secondary Classes (6-10)

 * August 11, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): Telugu for all classes

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): Mathematics for all classes

 * August 12, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): Hindi for classes 6-10

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): General Science (classes 6-8) and Physical Science (classes 9 & 10)

 * August 13, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): English for all classes

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): Social for all classes

 * August 14, 2025:

   * Morning (9:30 AM - 10:45 AM): Biological Science (classes 8, 9 & 10)

   * Afternoon (1:15 PM - 2:30 PM): OSSC-1 (classes 8, 9 & 10) and OSSC (classes 6 & 7)

   * Afternoon (2:45 PM - 4:00 PM): OSSC-2 (classes 8, 9 & 10)

FA 1 Examination Patterns

The FA 1 is a competency-based written test for 35 marks, with question types varying by class.

 * Classes 1 & 2: The test is divided into two sections. Section A has 10 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) worth 2 marks each, and Section B has 5 short answer questions (FR) worth 3 marks each, for a total of 35 marks.

 * Classes 3-5: The test has three sections. Section A includes 15 MCQs (1 mark each), Section B has 2 very short answer questions (VSAQ) (2 marks each), and Section C has 4 short answer questions (SAQ) (4 marks each), for a total of 35 marks.

 * Classes 6-9: The exam is divided into four sections. Section A contains 15 MCQs (1 mark each), Section B has 2 VSAQs (2 marks each), Section C has 2 SAQs (4 marks each), and Section D has 1 essay question (8 marks), totaling 35 marks.

 * Class 10: The pattern for Class 10 varies by subject. For example, the Telugu paper has 14 questions, the English paper has 19 questions, and the Social paper has 15 questions, with total marks for each subject being 35.

For classes 8, 9, and 10, the Science FA will consist of two separate papers: Physical Science (PS) and Biological Science (BS).

Syllabus for FA 1 (June and July)

The syllabus for the FA 1 exams covers material taught in June and July.

 * Primary Classes (1-5):

   * Telugu: Includes poems, the alphabet, and stories like "తెలుగు తల్లి" and "గాంధీ మహాత్ముడు".

   * English: Covers the readiness program and specific units such as "Tenali Rama And The Thieves" for Class 3 and "Mallika Goes to School" for Class 5.

   * Mathematics: Focuses on the readiness program, numbers, and concepts like expanded and shortened forms.

   * EVS: Topics include "Happy family," "Plants around us," "Animals around us," and "Migration of people".

 * Secondary Classes (6-10):

   * Telugu: The syllabus includes a readiness program as well as various poems and stories like "సంసిద్ధతా," "అక్షరం," and "ప్రత్యక్ష దైవాలు".

   * English: Covers readiness programs and specific units, for example, "Three Questions" and "A Gift of Chappals" for Class 7, and "A Letter to God" and "Nelson Mandela" for Class 10.

   * Mathematics: Topics range from "Integers" and "Fractions and decimals" for Class 7 to "Real Numbers" and "Polynomials" for Class 10.

   * Science: The syllabus for Class 7 includes "Nutrition in plants" and "Nutrition in animals," while Class 10 covers "Chemical reactions and Equations" and "Life Processes".

   * Social Studies: Covers a variety of topics, including "The Universe and the Earth" for Class 7 and "The French Revolution" and "Rise of Nationallism in Europe" for Class 9 and 10, respectively.
