The PM Young Achievers' Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) is a government initiative to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/S-NT).

Here are the complete details of the PM YASASVI Scholarship Scheme:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PM YASASVI Scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Category: Must belong to the OBC, EBC, or DNT categories.
  • Income: The combined annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. 
  • Education: Must be studying in a government-recognized school. 
  • Class: The scholarship is available for students currently studying in Class 9 or Class 11. 
  • Merit: The selection is based on academic merit, determined by the marks obtained in the previous class's final examination.

Scholarship Amount

The scholarship amount varies based on the student's class:

  • Class 9 students: ₹75,000 per year 
  • Class 11 students: ₹1,25,000 per year

This amount is intended to cover tuition fees, hostel expenses, and other academic costs.

Application Process

The application process for the PM YASASVI Scholarship is conducted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The steps are as follows: 

  • OTR (One-Time Registration): Applicants must first complete an Aadhaar-based face authentication to get their OTR number. This is a new and compulsory step from the 2024-25 academic year onwards. 
  • Registration: Go to the official NSP website, scholarships.gov.in, and register for a new account or log in to an existing one.
  • Application Form: Fill out the online application form with accurate personal, academic, and financial details. 
Document Upload: Scan and upload all the required documents. These typically include:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport-size photograph 
  • Educational qualification marksheets/certificates (from the previous class)
  • Valid income certificate 
  • Domicile CertificateC
  • Caste/Community Certificate
  • Bank account details
  • Disability certificate (if applicable) 
Submission: Review the application form carefully before final submission. The application will be verified online by the school's Nodal Officer and then confirmed by the State Government.

It is important to check the official National Scholarship Portal for the exact and confirmed dates.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Note: Previously, the selection was done through the YASASVI Entrance Test (YET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, according to recent information, the YASASVI entrance test has been canceled, and the selection for the scholarship is now purely merit-based. A state-wise merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the students in their previous class's final examination.
