This initiative is to be observed by following the prescribed operational guidelines to ensure active public participation, meaningful collaboration, and to drive systemic change towards a cleaner, greener, healthier, and wealthier Andhra Pradesh.
As part of this program, several innovative best practices are being showcased to the Hon'ble Chief Minister during public events. One such notable initiative is ITC's Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW) program, which was demonstrated during the Kandukuru SASA event. Following its successful presentation, the Hon'ble Chief Minister instructed that the program be scaled up across all schools in the state.
In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been executed between Swachh Andhra Corporation and ITC Limited for the implementation of ITC's CSR initiative across all Urban Local Bodies in Andhra Pradesh. The WOW initiative aims to strengthen scientific waste management practices by fostering awareness-particularly among school children-on source segregation and environmental sustainability.
The WOW program, implemented through ITC's authorized NGO partners, includes the following components:
Awareness campaigns through school assemblies and classroom sessions.
Formation of Swachh WOW Clubs in schools to cultivate student leadership in waste management. Organization of Inter-School Recycling Championships to encourage competitive participation.
Distribution of dry waste storage bins to promote source- level segregation.
Engagement of students in state and national-level environmental campaigns.
In alignment with the objectives of Swachh Andhra Day, and to reinforce the state's commitment to cleanliness and sustainable living, the initiative is proposed to be implemented in all Upper Primary and above schools, both Government and Private, across Andhra Pradesh.
Therefore, all Deputy Educational Officers, Mandal Educational Officers, Deputy Inspectors of Urdu Schools, and Headmasters of Upper Primary and above schools under all managements in the district are hereby instructed to take necessary action for the effective implementation of the above program.
They are also directed to extend full cooperation and permit the ITC WOW team to conduct activities in their respective schools as and when scheduled, ensuring that such activities do not disrupt regular academic work.
