Vacancy Details
The total number of vacancies for the Section Controller post is 368. This includes reservations for various categories such as SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, ExSM, and PwBD. You can find a detailed, zone-wise breakdown of vacancies in Annexure-B of the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: A university degree or its equivalent is required. Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 and 33 years old as of 01.01.2026.
- Medical Standards: The prescribed medical standard for the post is A-2. You must be physically fit in all respects. This includes passing tests for distant and near vision, as well as color vision, binocular vision, night vision, and myopic vision. Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or other refractory error correction procedures are not eligible for this post.
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online only through the official RRB websites.
- You must create an account to apply. If you have a previous RRB account, use the same credentials.
- You are required to provide a valid and active personal mobile number and email ID, as all communication from the RRB will be sent via SMS and email. Changes to your mobile number or email address are not permitted at any stage.
- Live Photo: The application form requires you to capture a live photograph using a webcam or phone camera. Do not upload a pre-existing photo. Make sure to follow the photo guidelines, which include wearing non-white clothing and not wearing a cap, mask, or glasses.
- Single Application: You can only apply to one RRB. Submitting more than one application will lead to rejection of all applications.
- Application Modification: You can make corrections to certain details in your application form from October 17, 2025, to October 26, 2025, by paying a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250. Details filled in the "Create an Account" form (like mobile number, email, and chosen RRB) cannot be changed.
Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of a Single-Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). After this, shortlisted candidates will undergo Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination.
- Negative Marking: There is a negative marking of 1/3rd of the marks for each incorrect answer in the CBT.
- Shortlisting: Shortlisting for the CBAT will be based on the merit of the CBT, with candidates shortlisted up to 8 times the number of vacancies. For the final Document Verification and Medical Examination, candidates will be shortlisted at a 1:1 ratio to the vacancies, based on a combined merit list from the CBT (70% weightage) and CBAT (30% weightage).
Important Notes
* To avoid last-minute issues, it is strongly advised to submit your application well before the closing date.
* SC/ST candidates who opt for it can get a free sleeper class railway pass for travel to the exam center. You must indicate this in your application and upload a valid caste certificate.
* You will be able to download your e-call letter about four days before the CBT and CBAT. An intimation about the exam city will be provided ten days in advance. No call letters will be sent by post.
