As per the Government Orders and the directions of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, the third Saturday of every month is being observed as "Swachha Andhra Day" across all districts, ULBs, and government institutions to promote the values of cleanliness, public hygiene, environmental sustainability, and citizen participation.
Accordingly, the theme for the month of September 2025 is designated as "Green AP". All districts are requested to organize a comprehensive set of activities on 20th September 2025, focusing on promoting greenery, afforestation, terrace/home gardening, composting and sustainable agricultural practices.
Suggested Activities:
- Plantation drives in public institutions, road medians, parks, and open spaces.
- Promotion of urban gardening and terrace gardens for households and institutions.
- Conduct home composting workshops showcasing different composting methods.
- Organize mixed inter-cropping awareness programs for farmers in coordination with Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.
- Develop Green Corridors in coordination with Forest and PR & RD Departments.
- Mobilize school and college students for eco-clubs and plantation campaigns.
- Awareness campaigns on local climate action and benefits of green cover.
- Engage SHGs, RWAs, NGOs, and community groups for participation.
- Encourage volunteer-based 'Adopt a Plant' campaigns.
- Ensure wide publicity through rallies, pledge-taking, digital campaigns, and social media postings using SASA hashtags.
- Implementation & Reporting Guidelines:
- Ensure participation of all District and Zonal Special Officers.
- Assign the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) as District Nodal Officer for monitoring and reporting through the SASA App.
- Encourage inter-departmental coordination, especially with Forest, Agriculture, Education, and Rural Development Departments.
- Involve elected representatives, educational institutions, civic bodies, and industries in plantation and sustainability initiatives.
- Submit documentation and success stories with photos, videos, reels, and activity-wise metrics on the SASA platform.
All the District Collectors are requested to ensure effective execution of the above activities on 20.09.2025 and encourage wide participation of the public. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned departments and instructions.
All the District Collectors are requested to take up planning and coordination meetings well in advance and ensure participation of all line departments, ULBS/RLBs, institutions, schools, and public representatives. The outcomes are to be documented and reported with photographs, video reels, and activity-wise metrics.
