The first merit list for the India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 is scheduled to be released today, February 28, 2026. This recruitment covers approximately 28,740 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) positions.

How to Check Your GDS Result

Once released, the result will be available as a downloadable PDF merit list for each postal circle.

  • Visit the Official Portal: Go to indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. 
  • Select Your Circle: On the homepage, find the "Shortlisted Candidates" section and select the state/circle where you applied (e.g., Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh). 
  • Download the PDF: Click on the link for the "List of Shortlisted Candidates" to download the merit list for that region. 
  • Search Your Name/Registration Number: Use Ctrl + F to search for your details in the document.

Key Selection Details

Basis of Selection: The merit list is prepared strictly based on Class 10 marks. No written exam or interview is conducted for these posts.

Expected Cut-off: Due to high competition, expected cut-offs for the first list are generally high:

  • General (UR): 90% – 98% 
  • OBC: 85% – 93%
  • SC/ST: 75% – 88%

Next Steps: Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must proceed to Document Verification (DV). You will need to bring original documents, including your mark sheet, identity proof, and caste certificate (if applicable).
