The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued revised guidelines for the promotion of Anganwadi Helpers to Anganwadi Workers. The Women, Children, Differently Abled & Senior Citizens Department released these orders through G.O.Ms.No.5 dated 13 March 2026.
These new guidelines aim to provide better career opportunities for Anganwadi Helpers who have been serving for several years in Anganwadi Centres across the state.
Key Highlights of the Government Order:
1. 50% of Anganwadi Worker posts will be filled by promoting eligible Anganwadi Helpers.
2. The maximum age limit is 50 years as on 1st July of the recruitment year.
3. The candidate must have passed 10th Class, and certificates will be verified by the Education Department.
4. The candidate must be a resident of the same village or habitation (for rural/tribal Anganwadi Centres) or the same ward (for urban centres) where the post is vacant.
5. The candidate must be physically fit to perform the duties of an Anganwadi Worker.
6. The Helper must have completed a minimum of 5 years of service as an Anganwadi Helper as on the date of notification.
7. If there are multiple Anganwadi Centres in a village or ward, promotion will be given based on seniority among eligible helpers.
8. If seniority is equal, the elder candidate (based on date of birth) will be given preference. If both seniority and age are the same, the candidate with higher educational qualification will be selected.
9. Government reservation rules will be followed while granting promotions.
Implementation
The Director of Women Development & Child Welfare, Andhra Pradesh has been instructed to take necessary action to implement these revised promotion guidelines across the state.
