Special Officers Appointed For
The Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed Special Officers for the following municipal institutions:
86 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)
11 Municipal Corporations
75 Municipalities / Nagar Panchayats
These officers will manage administrative activities until the elected governing bodies take charge.
Tenure of Special Officers
According to the Government Order:
The Special Officers will serve for a period of six months, or
Until the elected municipal body assumes office,
Whichever occurs earlier.
Legal Provisions
The appointments are made under the following legal provisions:
Section 62-A of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965
Section 17(1) of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1994
These provisions allow the government to appoint Special Officers to manage municipal administrations temporarily.

The Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA), Andhra Pradesh has been instructed to take necessary action for implementing the order and ensuring proper administration of the concerned municipal bodies.
