Amaravati, June 16, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh Government's Samagra Shiksha department has announced significant changes to the ongoing recruitment process for vacant positions in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs). The application deadline for the recruitment of Principals, Contract Resident Teachers (CRTs), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) has been extended until June 20, 2026.
The announcement was made by Mr. B. Srinivasa Rao, IAS, State Project Director (SPD), Samagra Shiksha, Andhra Pradesh, through an official press release issued on Tuesday.
Temporary Relaxation in TET Eligibility
One of the most important revisions in the recruitment notification is the temporary exemption from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) requirement. According to the revised guidelines, candidates who do not possess TET qualification at the time of application are now eligible to apply for the advertised posts.
However, selected candidates must obtain qualification in the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) within one year from the date of joining service. Failure to achieve TET qualification within the stipulated period will result in the automatic termination of their services without any prior notice.
Opportunity for More Aspirants
The relaxation aims to provide greater opportunities for qualified teaching professionals who may not have completed the TET requirement but possess the necessary academic qualifications and teaching potential. The extension of the application deadline is also expected to encourage a larger pool of candidates to participate in the recruitment process.
No Need for Reapplication
The State Project Director clarified that candidates who have already submitted their applications under the original notification issued on May 25, 2026, are not required to apply again. Their previously submitted applications will remain valid and be considered during the selection process.
