The Government of India, Ministry of Education, has officially invited online self-nominations for the National Teachers Awards 2026. The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department has instructed all Regional Joint Directors and District Educational Officers to publicize the notification widely so that eligible teachers can apply within the prescribed timeline.

The National Teachers Awards recognize outstanding teachers who have made exceptional contributions to improving school education, promoting innovation in teaching, and positively impacting students' lives.

Important Dates

- Online Registration Opens: 15 June 2026
- Last Date for Online Registration: 10 July 2026
- Final Submission of Application: 13 July 2026
- District Level Shortlisting: 14 July – 21 July 2026
- State Level Shortlisting: 22 July – 29 July 2026
- Jury Interaction: 30–31 July 2026
- National Jury Selection: 3–7 August 2026
- Final Recommendation: 8 August 2026
- Selected Candidates Intimation: 10–20 August 2026
- National Award Ceremony: 4 & 5 September 2026

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include:

- Teachers and Headmasters working in recognized Government, Government-aided, Local Body and Private Schools.
- Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, AEES, EMRS, CBSE and CISCE affiliated schools.
- Regular teachers with at least 10 years of service.

Not Eligible

- Contract teachers and Shiksha Mitras
- Educational Administrators and Inspectors
- Staff of Training Institutes
- Teachers involved in private tuition
- Retired teachers (except those meeting the special eligibility conditions mentioned in the guidelines).

Selection Process

The selection process includes:

1. Online self-nomination by teachers.
2. Verification and evaluation by the District Selection Committee.
3. State Selection Committee review.
4. Independent National Jury assessment.
5. Final approval by the Hon'ble Union Education Minister.

Evaluation Criteria

Teachers will be evaluated based on:

- Innovative pedagogy and joyful learning
- Effective use of ICT and technology
- Teaching-learning materials and mentorship
- Community engagement
- School governance and administration
- Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)
- Publications, training, attendance, enrolment improvement and e-content development.

Andhra Pradesh Quota

- Maximum National Award Nominations: 6
- Target Online Applications: 2,000 teachers from Andhra Pradesh.

Important Instructions

- Applications must be submitted only through the official online portal.
- Manual applications will not be accepted.
- Teachers should upload supporting documents, certificates, photographs, videos and other evidence along with the online application.
- Every applicant must submit a declaration confirming the authenticity of the information provided.
