In the G.O. first read above, orders have been issued declaring 25-08-2026 (Tuesday) as General Holiday on the occasion of MILAD-UN-NABI for the year 2026.
2. In the reference 2nd read above, the Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board, Vijayawada, has submitted that the moon for the month of Rab ul Awwal has not been cited on 12-08-2026. Hence the 12th Rabi ul Awwal i.e., Milad un Nabi will coincide with 26-08-2026, as per moon citing (Lunar Calendar) and requested to modify the Public Holiday for Milad un Nabi for Hijri 1147 to 26-08-2026 instead of 25-08-2026.
3. The Government, after careful consideration of the matter, have decided to change the General Holiday on the occasion of MILAD-UN-NABI to 26-08-2026 (Wednesday) instead of 25-08-2026 (Tuesday). Accordingly, the following notification shall be published in the Extra-ordinary Gazette of Andhra Pradesh State:
NOTIFICATION
In partial modification of the orders issued in G.O.Rt.No.2276, General Administration (Political.B) Department, dated 04.12.2025, notifying the General Holidays and Optional Holidays for the year 2026, the Government hereby declare 26-08- 2026(Wednesday) as General Holiday on the occasion of MILAD-UN-NABI instead of 25- 08-2026 (Tuesday)
