Educational Qualification
For Non-ITI Candidates
Candidates should have passed Madhyamik/Class 10 or equivalent examination with at least 50% aggregate marks. Candidates must also have secured at least 40% marks each in Mathematics and Science.
For Ex-ITI Candidates
Applicants should have passed Class 10/Madhyamik or equivalent and the relevant ITI trade from an institute recognized by NCVT, SCVT or the applicable competent authority. The notification specifies a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in both Matriculation/Class X and ITI.
Age Limit
The prescribed age limit is 15 to 24 years as on the last date of receipt of applications. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to eligible reserved categories according to Government of India rules. ITI candidates may also receive the additional age relaxation specified in the notification based on the normal duration of NCVT/SCVT training.
Apprentice Training Duration
- Non-ITI: 2 years
- Ex-ITI: 1 year

AVNL Apprentice Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend during the training period as specified in the notification.
- Non-ITI – First Year: ₹12,600 per month
- Non-ITI – Second Year: ₹14,400 per month
- Ex-ITI – 2 Year Trades: ₹16,200 per month
- Ex-ITI – 1 Year Trades: ₹14,400 per month
The notification states that no other allowances will be paid during the apprenticeship training period.
Selection Process
Selection will be made on the basis of a merit list. Separate merit lists will be prepared for Non-ITI and Ex-ITI candidates.
For Non-ITI candidates, merit is based on the overall percentage obtained in Class 10/Madhyamik. For Ex-ITI candidates, the merit is prepared trade-wise using the simple average of Matriculation and ITI percentages.
Provisionally selected candidates will be called for document verification and medical examination. In case of a tie in marks, the notification provides specific tie-breaking criteria, including age, year of passing Matriculation and alphabetical order.
