Navodaya Class 9 Admission 2027: Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the Prospectus-cum-Notification for admission to Class 9 through the Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) 2027-28. What is Navodaya Vidyalaya?

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are co-educational, fully residential schools administered by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The schools aim to provide quality modern education to talented children, particularly those from rural areas. JNVs are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Age Limit for Class 9 Admission

The candidate's date of birth must be between:

1 May 2012 and 31 July 2014
Both dates are inclusive.

Who is Not Eligible?

  • Students who have already passed Class 8 in previous academic sessions.
  • Candidates whose date of birth is outside the prescribed age range.

Navodaya Class 9 Selection Test 2027 Date

The Class 9 Lateral Entry Selection Test will be conducted on Saturday, 10 April 2027.

The examination centre will normally be the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the concerned district or another centre allotted by NVS. 4

Is There Negative Marking?

No. There is no negative marking in the Class 9 Lateral Entry Selection Test. Each correct answer carries one mark.

Candidates must use a Blue or Black Ball Point Pen on the OMR sheet. Pencil is strictly prohibited. Once an answer is marked, it cannot be changed using erasing, striking or correction fluid.

A candidate who has studied Class 8 in an urban area even for a single day during the session will be considered an urban candidate, according to the prospectus. 

Important Information About Vacancies

Admission to Class 9 is conducted only against vacant seats likely to be available in the concerned JNV. The number of vacancies is tentative and may increase or decrease.

The notification also contains district-wise tentative vacancy details in Annexure-II. Therefore, candidates should check the vacancy and eligibility details applicable to their district before applying.

Admit Card

The admit card will be made available through the NVS application portal on a date decided by NVS. The prospectus states that it will preferably be displayed about one month before the examination.
