SSC CHSL 2026 Vacancy
The notification mentions approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. These vacancies are subject to change because the final vacancies will be determined after scrutiny of requirements received from the User Departments.

SSC CHSL 2026 Educational Qualification
- Candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification by the cut-off date.
- For LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts
- Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
- Special qualification for certain DEO posts
- For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
- Candidates appearing for the Class 12 examination can also apply, but they must possess the required qualification by 7 October 2026.
SSC CHSL 2026 Age Limitlessness
The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2026.
Candidates should have been born not before 2 August 1999 and not later than 1 August 2008.

SSC CHSL 2026 Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100.
The following candidates are exempted from paying the application fee:

Application Last Date
The last date for submitting the online application is 7 October 2026 at 11:00 PM. Candidates are advised not to wait until the final hours because heavy website traffic or technical problems may prevent successful submission.
Application Form Correction
SSC has provided a correction window from 14 October 2026 to 16 October 2026, up to 11:00 PM.
Candidates can submit a corrected application up to two times. The correction charge is ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction.

SSC CHSL 2026 will be conducted through Tier-I and Tier-II.

The examination duration is 60 minutes, with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each subject. Candidates eligible for the scribe facility receive additional time as prescribed. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern
Tier-II contains four sections:
1. Mathematical Abilities
2. Reasoning and General Intelligence
3. English Language and Comprehension
4. General Awareness
5. Computer Knowledge Test
6. Skill Test/Typing Test
The first three sections are conducted in Session-I, while the Skill/Typing Test is conducted in Session-II on the same day.
Section-I consists of Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning, with 60 questions and 180 marks. Section-II consists of English Language & Comprehension and General Awareness, with 60 questions and 180 marks. The Computer Knowledge Test contains 15 questions for 45 marks and is qualifying in nature.
There is 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.
SSC CHSL Typing Test
For LDC/JSA posts, candidates can choose English or Hindi as the typing-test medium while submitting the application. The choice is final.
English: 35 words per minute
: 30 words per minute
Typing test duration: 10 minutes
Candidates eligible for a scribe receive additional compensatory time.
SSC CHSL DEO Skill Test
For Data Entry Operator posts, the Skill Test is mandatory.
For specified DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, the required speed is 15,000 key depressions per hour, with a 15-minute test.
For other DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, the required speed is 8,000 key depressions per hour, also with a 15-minute test.
SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
Candidates will first be shortlisted for Tier-II based on their performance in Tier-I.
UR – 30%
OBC/EWS – 25%
All other categories – 20%
Section-III and Section-IV of Tier-II are qualifying in nature, while the final merit list is prepared using the aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying the required sections.
Post and department allocation will be based on merit and the preferences submitted by candidates. Once submitted, post preferences are treated as final and cannot be changed later.
