Educational Qualification
For Direct Recruitment, candidates must have obtained a Law Degree from a recognised University established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Selection Process

1. Screening Test

2. Written Examination

- Paper-III: English – 100 Marks
Paper-III consists of Essay Writing and Translation. The paper carries 40 marks for Essay Writing and 60 marks for Translation.
3. Viva Voce
The Viva Voce carries 50 marks. A candidate who remains absent for the Viva Voce will be disqualified from selection.
Minimum Marks for Viva Voce
For Direct Recruitment, candidates belonging to Open Competition/EWS category must secure at least 55% in Paper-I and Paper-II and at least 60% in aggregate.
Candidates belonging to Backward Classes must secure at least 50% in Paper-I and Paper-II and at least 55% in aggregate.
Candidates belonging to SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities must secure at least 45% in Paper-I and Paper-II and at least 50% in aggregate.
For Recruitment by Transfer, candidates must secure at least 55% in Paper-I and Paper-II and at least 60% in aggregate.
Final Selection Merit
After the written examination, qualified candidates will be called for Viva Voce in the ratio of 1:3 of the available vacancies in the respective categories.
For Direct Recruitment, final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the written examination and Viva Voce, subject to the minimum qualifying marks prescribed in the notification.
Training After Selection
Candidates selected and appointed as Civil Judge (Junior Division) will be designated as Trainee Judicial Officers and will undergo intensive training at the Judicial Academy.
During the training period, the notification provides for a fixed emolument equivalent to one-half of the remuneration payable to a Civil Judge (Junior Division) in addition to admissible dearness allowance.
After successful completion of training and the Law Clerkship period, the candidate may be appointed to the regular post subject to satisfactory performance and suitability.
