2. The Government of India vide reference 1st cited has been decided that in all cases, where the Central Government civil employee has been appointed against a post or vacancy which was advertised/notified for recruitment/ appointment, prior to the date of notification for National Pension System and is covered under the National Pension System on joining service, be given a one-time option to be covered under the Old Pension System.

3. In the reference 2nd cited, all the Secretariat Departments were requested to furnish the consolidated information HoD wise, post wise break-up in a tabular format regarding the employees who were recruited against the posts/vacancies advertised/notified for recruitment on or before 1.9.2004, so as to take a policy decision in this matter in one week.

4. However, some of the Secretariat Departments have not yet submitted the required information.

5. Meanwhile, Finance Department has received LCQ Starred Question No. 13666 regarding the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees recruited through notifications issued before 1st September 2004, as per the guidelines released on the Central Pension Scheme (CPS) by the Central Government.

6. Therefore, the departments of the Secretariat that have not yet furnished the required data, are requested to submit the information in the tabular format annexed immediately in order to furnish the reply to the Legislative Council.

This may be treated as Most Important and urgent.
