Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: Candidates must be born between 02 July 2005 and 02 January 2009 (both dates inclusive). The upper age limit at the date of enrolment should be 21 years if a candidate clears all selection stages.
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible and must undertake not to marry during the four-year engagement period. Female candidates also need to commit to not getting pregnant during this period.
Educational Qualification:
- Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and English with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English.
OR
- Three-year Diploma Course in Engineering (various branches) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English (in Diploma or 10th/12th if not in Diploma).
OR
- Two-year Vocational Course with non-vocational subjects Physics and Mathematics, with 50% aggregate and 50% in English (in Vocational Course or 10th/12th if not in Vocational Course).
- Other than Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent in any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English.
OR
- Two-year Vocational Course with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English (in Vocational Course or 10th/12th if not in Vocational Course).
- Note: Candidates eligible for Science Subjects can also opt for Other than Science Subjects and appear for both exams in one sitting.
Medical Standards:
- Height:
- Male Candidates: Minimum 152 cms
- Female Candidates: Minimum 152 cms (relaxable to 147 cms for North East/hilly regions of Uttarakhand, and 150 cms for Lakshadweep).
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
- Chest:
- Male Candidates: Minimum 77 cms circumference with at least 5 cms expansion.
- Female Candidates: Well-proportioned with a minimum 5 cms expansion.
- Hearing: Normal hearing, able to hear forced whisper from 6 meters with each ear separately.
- Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, and minimum 14 dental points.
- General Health: Must be fit for the Air Force, conform to medical standards, and be free from any major medical or surgical issues.
- Visual Standards: 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye. Maximum limits of Refractive error: Hypermetropia: +2.00 D, Myopia: -1.00 D, including 0.50 D Astigmatism. Colour Vision: CP-II. LASIK/PRK surgeries are not accepted.
Selection Process:
The selection process involves three phases:
- Phase-I (Online Test):
- Objective type, bilingual (English & Hindi, except for English paper).
- Science Subjects: 60 minutes, covering Physics, Mathematics, and English (as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus).
- Other than Science Subjects: 45 minutes, covering English (as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA).
- Both Science & Other than Science Subjects: 85 minutes, covering Physics, Mathematics, English, and RAGA.
- Marking Pattern: 1 mark for correct, 0 for unattempted, 0.25 deducted for wrong answers.
- Marks will be normalized, and shortlisting for Phase-II will be state-wise based on normalized marks. Candidates must qualify in each paper individually.
- Phase-II (Physical Fitness Test & Adaptability Tests):
- Shortlisted candidates will receive a new Admit Card for Phase-II.
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I): 1.6 Km run to be completed within 7 minutes for male candidates and 8 minutes for female candidates.
- PFT-II: For male candidates, 10 Push-ups (1 min), 10 Sit-ups (1 min), 20 Squats (1 min). For female candidates, 10 Sit-ups (1 min 30 secs), 15 Squats (1 min).
- Adaptability Test-I: Objective type written test to assess suitability for IAF deployment.
- Adaptability Test-II: To assess adaptation to the IAF environment and military life.
- Conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards.
- Includes various investigations like Blood tests, Urine, Biochemistry, Radiograph Chest, Ultrasonography (for females), and ECG.
- Candidates declared medically unfit can appeal through an Appeal Medical Board (AMB).
Terms and Conditions for Agniveervayu:
- Enrolled for a period of FOUR years under the Air Force Act 1950.
- Distinct rank, different from existing ranks.
- No obligation for the IAF to retain Agniveervayu beyond four years.
- Up to 25% of each batch may be offered an opportunity to apply for enrolment in the regular cadre of the IAF as Airmen, based on objective criteria and performance.
- Pay & Allowances: Agniveer package of ₹30,000/- per month with a fixed yearly increment, plus Risk and Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances. Perks like ration, clothing, accommodation, and LTC.
- Seva Nidhi Package: One-time package on completion of engagement period, approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs (excluding interest) comprising monthly contributions from the individual and matching government contributions.
- No Provident Fund contribution, gratuity, or pensionary benefits.
- Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance cover of ₹48 Lakhs.
- Skill Certificate: Detailed Skill-Set certificate will be provided at the end of the engagement period.
- Not Entitled to ESM Status: Agniveervayu will not be eligible for Ex-Servicemen status.
- May be permitted to appear for NDA/AFCAT examinations (maximum three attempts) during their engagement period.
- Release at own request prior to completion of engagement period is generally not permissible, except in exceptional cases with Competent Authority approval.
Important Notes:
- Selection in the Indian Air Force is fair, transparent, and based on merit only. No bribes are required at any stage.
- Candidates are advised to register early as no extension of registration dates will be accommodated.
- Carry your AADHAAR card (or other valid ID for J&K, Ladakh, Assam, Meghalaya) for all selection stages.
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, and electronic devices are prohibited in testing areas.
- The Provisional Select List (PSL) will be displayed on https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in on 15 May 2026.
- The Enrolment List will be published on 01 June 2026. E-Call letters will be sent to registered email IDs.
