Key Details of the Recruitment
1. Tentative Vacancies

2. Reservation and Suitability for Persons with Disabilities (PwBD)
- Reservations: Available for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Ex-Servicemen (ESM), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Suitability for PwBD:
- Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translator/Junior Translation Officer and Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator are suitable for candidates with disabilities such as Blindness (B), Low Vision (LV), Deaf (D), Hard of Hearing (HH), One Arm Affected (OA), One Leg Affected (OL), Both Legs Affected (BL), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Leprosy Cured (LC), Dwarfism (Dw), Acid Attack Victims (AAV), and more, as per Notification No. 38-16/2020-DDIII dated January 4, 2021.
- Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) in CRPF: Not suitable for any PwBD category.
- Functional Requirements: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Reading & Writing, Seeing, Hearing, and Communication.
3. Nationality/Citizenship
Eligible candidates must be:
- Citizens of India, or
- Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries (e.g., Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Note: Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, or other specified countries require a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
4. Age Limit and Relaxation
- Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) in CRPF:
- Age: 18–30 years as of the closing date of application (born between June 25, 1995, and June 26, 2007).
- Other Posts:
- Age: 18–30 years as of August 1, 2025 (born between August 2, 1995, and August 1, 2007).
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
- PwBD (OBC): 13 years
- PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deducting military service.
- Defence Personnel disabled in operations: 3 years (8 years for SC/ST).
5. Essential Educational Qualifications (As of August 1, 2025)
For Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator and Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator):
- Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination, or
- Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination, or
- Master’s degree in any subject (other than Hindi/English) with Hindi/English as compulsory/elective subjects or medium of examination, and
- A recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or two years of translation experience in a Central/State Government office.
For Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator:
- Same as above, but requires three years of translation experience instead of two.
Additional Requirements for Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) in CRPF:
- Physical Standards:
- Height:
- General: 165 cm (male), 155 cm (female).
- Relaxed for certain categories (e.g., Scheduled Tribes, Garhwalies): 162.5 cm (male), 150 cm (female).
- Chest (Male Only):
- General: 77 cm (unexpanded), 82 cm (expansion).
- Scheduled Tribes: 76 cm (unexpanded), 81 cm (expansion).
- Weight: As per medical standards.
- Eye Sight: Minimum 6/6 in one eye, 6/9 in the other without correction.
- Medical Standards: No knock knees, flat feet, squint, varicose veins; must have high color vision and good mental/physical health.

6. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for Border Roads Organization (BRO)
- For Group C Posts:
- One-mile run to be completed within 10 minutes.
- Mandatory for candidates qualifying through SSC for BRO posts.
- Physical Standards for BRO:
- Vary by region (e.g., Western Himalayan, Eastern Himalayan, etc.).
- Example: Western Himalayan Region requires a minimum height of 158 cm, chest 75 cm (unexpanded) with 5 cm expansion, and weight of 47.5 kg.
- Relaxations available for sons of serving/ex-GREF personnel and Gorkhas (Indian domicile).
7. Medical Standards for BRO
- Candidates must be free from constitutional or acquired disabilities that could affect duties, especially in high-altitude or remote areas.
- Grounds for Permanent Rejection:
- Impaired constitution (BMI < 18).
- Abnormal gait, posture, or chest deformities.
- Defective intelligence, deafness, pronounced stammering, or color blindness.
- Tattoos on unacceptable body parts (except inner forearms, palm, or back of hand).
- Grounds for Temporary Rejection:
- Conditions like conjunctivitis, defective vision (correctable to 6/6), or minor dental issues.
- Medical Examination:
- Conducted by a Medical Board at GREF Centre or Recruitment Centre.
- Candidates declared temporarily unfit can appeal within 60 days; permanently unfit candidates require a Rs. 40 fee for review by a specialist.
8. Provision for Scribes and Compensatory Time
- PwBD Candidates:
- Scribe facility available for candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy.
- Other PwBD candidates with physical limitations to write can avail a scribe with a certificate from a Chief Medical Officer.
- Compensatory time: 20 minutes per hour for eligible candidates.
- Scribe Rules:
- Candidates can opt for their own scribe or one provided by SSC.
- Scribe’s qualification must be one step below the candidate’s.
- Scribe must complete One-Time Registration (OTR) and Aadhaar authentication.
9. Certificate Requirements
- Candidates claiming SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM status must submit certificates in the prescribed formats (Annexures VIII–XII) during document verification.
- OBC Candidates: Must not belong to the creamy layer; candidature remains provisional until verified.
- EWS Candidates: Require an Income & Asset Certificate valid for FY 2025–26, based on income for FY 2024–25.
- Failure to produce valid certificates will result in candidature cancellation.
