Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications
To be eligible for the Head Constable (Radio Operator) or Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) positions, you must meet one of the following academic qualifications:
- 12th Pass: You must have passed the Intermediate or 12th standard (or equivalent) as a regular student with an aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Matriculation + ITI: Alternatively, you can have a Matriculation (or equivalent) certificate along with a two-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Certificate from a recognized institute in a relevant trade.
Age Limit (as of the closing date of the online application)
- UR (Unreserved): Not below 18 years or over 25 years.
- OBC (Other Backward Class): Not below 18 years or over 28 years.
- SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe): Not below 18 years or over 30 years.
Relaxations in the upper age limit are also available for various categories, including Ex-Servicemen, government employees, and widows/divorced women.
The Selection Process
The selection process is divided into three main phases:
- First Phase (PST & PET): This phase involves the Physical Standard Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which are both qualifying in nature. The PET for male candidates includes a 1.6 km race, a long jump, and a high jump, while for female candidates it's an 800-meter race, long jump, and high jump. Candidates who fail any event will be rejected at that stage.
- Second Phase (Computer Based Test - CBT): This is a 2-hour-long, 200-mark multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam conducted in both English and Hindi. The exam is divided into four parts: Physics (80 marks), Mathematics (40 marks), Chemistry (40 marks), and English & GK (40 marks). The syllabus is based on the 10+2/Intermediate level.
- Third Phase (Documentation & Medical Examination): This phase includes document verification, followed by a Detailed/Review Medical Examination (DME/RME). Additionally, candidates applying for the HC(RO) post must pass a Dictation Test and a Paragraph Reading Test. The Dictation Test carries 50 marks, while the Paragraph Reading Test is qualifying in nature.
The final merit list for HC(RO) will be based on the total marks obtained in the CBT and the Dictation Test (250 marks total), while for HC(RM), it will be based solely on the CBT marks (200 marks total).
