Who is BIS?
BIS is a statutory body operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It is responsible for various activities, including standardization, product and system certification, hallmarking, and laboratory testing across the country.
Position Details: Young Professional (Management System Certification Department)
BIS is recruiting for five Young Professional positions in the Management System Certification Department (MSCD).
- Educational Qualifications: Applicants must have a regular graduation degree in any discipline of Science, Engineering, BE, or B-Tech from a recognized university. A regular MBA or an equivalent degree is also required.
- Minimum Marks: A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA is necessary.
- Work Experience: A minimum of two years of work experience is required, preferably in marketing or related fields. Candidates should also be familiar with Management Systems.
- Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 35 years as of August 1, 2025.
- Remuneration: The position offers a fixed consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 70,000 for two years. This amount is subject to statutory deductions.
- Job Location: The posting will be within the jurisdiction of the BIS Southern Regional Office. This may require frequent travel to various states and union territories, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, and Goa, or even pan-India travel.
Application and Selection Process
The selection process for the Young Professional role is comprehensive and merit-based.
- Application Submission: All applications must be submitted online through the official BIS website at https://www.services.bis.gov.in by 17:30 on September 5, 2025. No other method of submission will be accepted.
- Application Fee: There is no application fee.
- Shortlisting: Received applications will be scrutinized and shortlisted based on qualifications, experience, and other details provided in the application form.
- Selection Stages: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a practical assessment, a written assessment, a technical knowledge assessment, and an interview.
- Important Note: Merely meeting the qualifications or being shortlisted does not guarantee selection. BIS reserves the right to cancel any or all applications without providing a reason.
Terms and Conditions of Engagement
The engagement as a Young Professional is on a full-time, contract basis for a period of two years.
- Working Hours: The standard working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, but candidates may be required to work late to complete time-bound assignments. Attendance will be recorded using a biometric system.
- Leave Policy: Young Professionals are entitled to 12 days of leave per calendar year. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed.
- Travel Allowance (TA/DA): No TA/DA is provided for joining or leaving the assignment. However, for official travel, TA/DA and lodging allowances will be paid as per the rates applicable to a regular BIS officer at the level of Assistant Director/Scientist-B.
- Termination: The engagement can be terminated by BIS with a 30-day notice without assigning any reason. If a Young Professional wishes to resign, they must provide 30 days' advance notice or pay the equivalent remuneration.
- Confidentiality: Young Professionals must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality. The intellectual property rights of all data collected and deliverables produced belong to BIS.
