About SHRESHTA Scheme
The Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) aims to:
- Provide quality education to bright SC students.
- Ensure socio-economic empowerment and holistic development.
- Fill educational gaps in service-deprived SC-dominated areas.
- Offer 3,000 seats annually for admission in Class IX and XI.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Applicant must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
2. Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
3. Students currently studying in Class 8 (for Class 9 admission) or Class 10 (for Class 11 admission) in the academic year 2025–26.
4. Age Limit:
- For Class 9: Born between 01-04-2010 to 31-03-2014
- For Class 11: Born between 01-04-2008 to 31-03-2012
Application Process:
1. Visit the official website: https://exams.nta.nic.in/shreshta.
2. Register online and note the system-generated application number.
3. Fill in personal, educational, and exam city details.
4. Upload the following documents:
- Passport-size photograph (10–200 KB, JPG/JPEG)
- Signature (10–50 KB, JPG/JPEG)
- Category certificate (50–300 KB, PDF)
- Income certificate (50–300 KB, PDF)
- Left-hand thumb impression (10–50 KB, JPG/JPEG)
5. Download and print the confirmation page for future use.

- Mathematics: 120 Marks
- Science: 80 Marks
- Social Studies: 100 Marks
- General Awarenes: 100 Marks
Total: 100 Questions (400 Marks)

- Duration: 3 Hours (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
- Medium: English & Hindi
- Marking Scheme: +4 for each correct answer, no negative marking.
- For Class 9 Admission: Based on NCERT Class 8 syllabus
- For Class 11 Admission: Based on NCERT Class 10 syllabus

Exam Cities:
The SHRESHTA (NETS) 2026 exam will be held in 167 cities across India including: Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, and others.
Candidates can choose four preferred cities during online application.
Admit Cards:
- Will be available 2–3 weeks before the exam.
