AP State Best Teachers Awards 2026 – Official Guidelines Released | The Director of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, has issued the official guidelines for the AP State Best Teachers Awards 2026 as part of the Teachers' Day (Gurupujotsavam) Celebrations to be held on 5 September 2026. The awards recognize outstanding teachers for their dedication, innovation, and contribution to improving the quality of education.
Objective of the Awards
The State Best Teachers Awards aim to honor teachers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, innovation, student development, and educational leadership. The initiative promotes quality education by recognizing deserving teachers across various school managements.
Eligible Teachers
The awards are open to regular teachers working in:
Government Schools
Zilla Parishad Schools
Mandal Parishad Schools
Municipal Schools
Aided Schools
AP Model Schools (APMS)
APSWREIS
APTWREIS
APREIS
KGBVs
DIETs
Teachers should have completed at least 10 years of regular service to be eligible.
Main Selection Criteria
The selection committee will evaluate teachers based on:
Contribution towards improving educational standards
Innovative teaching practices
Student learning outcomes
Development of teaching-learning materials
Participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities
Educational leadership and community involvement
Teachers with pending disciplinary or criminal cases are not eligible. Previously selected State Award recipients are also not eligible.
Nomination Categories
Teachers can be considered under any one of the following categories:
1. Self-Nomination
2. Recommendation by Five Fellow Teachers
3. Performance-based Selection through the LEAP App
Only one nomination category is permitted for each candidate.
Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted at three levels:
Divisional Level
District Level
State Level
Applications will be scrutinized based on the prescribed guidelines before forwarding them to the next level.
Important Schedule
Receipt of Applications: 01 July 2026 – 15 July 2026
Divisional Scrutiny: 17 July – 21 July 2026
Submission to DEO: 22 July 2026
District Scrutiny: 23 July – 27 July 2026
Submission to Director of School Education: 28 July 2026
State Level Scrutiny: 03 August – 06 August 2026
State Level Interviews: 10 August – 12 August 2026
Final Selection: 14 August 2026
State Awards Ceremony: 05 September 2026
District-Level Recommendations
Each district will recommend candidates in the following categories:
SGT
School Assistant
Headmaster
These recommendations will be forwarded to the State Selection Committee for final evaluation.
State Selection Committee
The final selection will be made by a State Selection Committee headed by senior officials of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, including the Minister for Education, Secretary of School Education, Director of School Education, Director of SCERT, and an eminent educationist.
District Best Teacher Awards
Apart from the State Awards, District Level Best Teacher Awards will also be organized. Districts can recommend outstanding teachers from the categories of SGT, School Assistant, and Headmaster as per the prescribed guidelines.
