1. The Hon'ble Supreme Court, in Civil Appeal No. 1385 of 2025 dated 01.09.2025, judgment envisaged that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification is mandatory for the concerned in-service teachers and directed that those having more than five years of service remaining for superannuation shall acquire the said qualification within the period stipulated by the Court. Further, while disposing of the Review Petitions arising out of the aforesaid judgment, the Hon'ble Supreme Court, by order dated 29.05.2026, declined to interfere with the requirement of acquiring the TET qualification.
However, taking note of the practical difficulties expressed by various States and stakeholders, the Hon'ble Supreme Court extended the time for compliance up to 31.08.2028 and further directed the concerned authorities to conduct Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examinations periodically, preferably twice in a year, with an interval of approximately six months, so as to provide adequate opportunities to eligible teachers to acquire the prescribed qualification within the stipulated period.
2. In view of the Judgement of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No.1385 of 2025, dated 01.09.2025, the Government in Memo.No.3303567/Services.I/A2/2026, dated 25.06.2026 and 24.08.2026 have accorded permission to the Director of School Education to conduct Special TET for In-service Teachers appointed prior to 2011, besides regular TET as usual to enable them to obtain the TET qualification before 31.08.2028 in compliance with the deadline stipulated by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
3. Accordingly, online applications are invited from In-service (Regular and appointed on Minimum Time Scale) Teachers working in Government / Local Bodies / APREIS / Government Welfare Societies Residential / AP Model Schools / Pvt. Aided Schools / Teachers working in other Government departments schools, are only eligible for appearing at the Special AP TET-August, 2026 to be conducted Online as Computer Based Test (CBT) by Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
4. Special APTET-August, 2026 will be conducted in 2 papers viz. Paper-I & Paper-II. Teachers for classes I to V have to appear for Paper-I and teachers for classes VI to VIII have to appear for paper-II. However, teachers of classes I to V who intend to be teachers for classes VI to VIII (subject to condition of possessing other required qualifications) have to appear for both papers i.e., paper-I and Paper-ll.
5. Special APTET-August, 2026 for in-service teachers:
i. All In-service (Regular and appointed on Minimum Time Scale) Teachers working in Government / Local Body / APREIS / Government Welfare Societies Residential / AP Model Schools / Pvt. Aided /Teachers working in other Government departments ONLY are permitted to appear for Special APTET-August, 2026.
ii. Pass in Special APTET-August, 2026 shall be considered as qualified only for fulfillment of the mandatory condition by all teachers either for continuing in their present post of working or promotion to the next higher post from the present post of working as per the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No.1385/5025 and batch of other related Civil Appeals dt.01.09.2025 and Review petition (Civil) Diary No. 53434 of 2025 and batch of other related Dated:29.05.2026.
iii. Pass in Special APTET-August, 2026 cannot be used for appearing in any direct recruitment in future. For appearing in any direct recruitment candidates need to appear for the regular APTET/ CTET.
iv. Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL Head Masters working in Government and Local Body Schools appointed with both D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. qualification are permitted to appear for Paper I.
v. School Assistants, TGTs, Language Pandits, Head Masters of High Schools are permitted to appear for Paper II.
vi. School Assistants who are working as PS HMs shall appear for paper-II in their concerned subject.
6. Date and Timings:
APTET-In-service Teachers-2026 will be conducted as Online Computer Based Test as given below:

7. Exam fee:
The Examination fee towards submission of application online and for the conduct of Computer Based Examination is Rs.1,000/- for each Paper-I, and PAPER-II separately. Candidates shall pay the fee through payment Gateway from 25.08.2026 to 24.09.2026 and submit online application at the APTET official website http://cse.ap.gov.in from 25.08.2026 to 24.09.2026.
Note: If the candidates who are having both D.El.Ed and B.Ed., qualifications desires to apply for both Paper I and Paper II, he/she has to pay Rs.1,000/- for each paper separately.
8. Procedure for Submission of Online Application:
Detailed procedure for applying Online is given in the Information Bulletin.
Candidates can download the 'Information Bulletin' from the website http://cse.ap.gov.in from 24.08.2026 onwards. Candidates can submit their applications online from 25.08.2026 to 24.09.2026 at http://cse.ap.gov.in
9. Examination Centers (Districts) for Special APTET-August, 2026:
i. The APTET-AUGUST- 2026 will be conducted through ‘ONLINE’ in all district headquarters / municipalities / revenue divisions / mandals.
Where required, based on number of applicants, particular category of post and subject, centres may be allotted in the adjacent district of neighbouring States.
ii. A window will be opened to the Candidates to opt the Districts indicated in the APTET official website.
iii. However, the allotment of examination centers shall be the discretion of the department to allot candidates to the examination districts depending on the capacity of any particular district and request for change of examination centers or sessions is not allowed under any circumstances.
10. Eligibility Criteria:
The qualifications prescribed for appearing at Paper I and Paper II of Special APTET-August, 2026 are given in Information Bulletin.
11. Structure, Content, Syllabus, Initial and Final Key of Special APTET-August, 2026:
a) The structure and content of each part of Paper-I and Paper-II of the Special APTET-August, 2026 and the breakup of the total 150 marks among various parts of the paper are given in the Information Bulletin.
b) Syllabus for Special APTET-August, 2026 can be downloaded from http://cse.ap.gov.in.
c) Initial key for Special APTET-August, 2026 will be published after the complete of CBT exams and inviting objections through online, if any, from the candidates who appeared for the CBT, duly giving a reasonable time to the candidates for filing objections on the initial key and the same shall be disposed of by the expert committee constituted by the SCERT (The State Academic Authority), Special APTET-August, 2026. The final key shall be published for the information of candidates. Any representation / petition / objection on the Final Key shall not be entertained.

The candidate must personally complete all sections of the application form and thoroughly review the information before submission. Candidates have opportunity to make corrections before final submission and fee payment through payment gateway. No option to edit the form will be provided after submission. The candidate will be solely responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
13. Pass Criteria in Special APTET-August, 2026:
The criteria for considering pass in Special APTET-August, 2026 is as follows:

Differently abled (Visually, Orthopedically, Hearing Impaired and Autism) candidates with at least 40% of disability shall be considered as disabled except Hearing Impairment. Hearing Impairment means (a) Deaf means person having 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears (b) Hard of Hearing means person having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears (GO.MS.No:36, Dept. for Woman, Children, Differently Abled & Senior citizens (Prog.ii), Dt: 23-08-2023).
14. Validity period of Special APTET-August, 2026 Certificate / Marks Memo:
The validity period of Special APTET-August, 2026 Certificate unless otherwise notified by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, would remain valid for life time for continuing in the present post of working or for promotion to next higher post from the present post of working.
15. Normalization:
The following standard Normalization procedure/Technique will be adopted for APTET.

Note: Calculation of marks will be up to 5 decimal places.
16. Legal Jurisdiction:
All legal disputes with regard to the conduct of TET shall be subject to the Jurisdiction of the Honorable Courts located in the State of Andhra Pradesh only.
