Make sure to mark these important dates in your calendar! Applying early is advised to avoid last-minute issues like website overload.

  • Opening of Online Application: November 25, 2025 (At 12:00 Hrs)  
  • Closing of Online Application: December 24, 2025 (At 23:59 Hrs)
  • Expected Date of Display of Merit: February 2026
  • Total Vacancies: 4116
Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the training slots, candidates must meet the following criteria as of the date of the notification (November 18, 2025).

1. Essential Qualification

  •  SSC/Matriculation/10th Class: Must have passed the examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board. 
  • ITI: Must have passed the ITI in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT recognized by the Government of India.
  • Important: You must have already passed the prescribed qualifications on the date of the notification (November 18, 2025). Applicants whose results are awaited are NOT eligible to apply.

2. Age Limit (As on December 24, 2025)

  • Minimum Age: Completed 15 years.
  • Maximum Age: Should not have completed 24 years.

Age Relaxation is available for reserved categories:

  • SC/ST: Relaxable by 5 years.
  • OBC: Relaxable by 3 years.
  • Persons with Disability (PwBD): Relaxable by 10 years.
  •  Ex-Servicemen: Relaxable by up to an additional 10 years, depending on service rendered, plus 3 years.
Application Fee:

  • General Fee: Rs. 100/- (Non-Refundable).
  • Payment Mode: Must be paid through ONLINE Mode.
  • Fee Exemption: NO FEE is required for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates.

Mode of Selection:

The selection of Act Apprentices will be based solely on merit—there will be no written test or viva.

Merit List Preparation:

  • Basis: Merit will be prepared by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained in both:
  • Matriculation/SSC/10th (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks). 
  • ITI examination. 
  • Equal weightage will be given to both.
  • Tie-Breaking (Same Marks): 
  • The candidate who is older in age shall be preferred.
  • If the Date of Birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier shall be considered first.

Important Note on Training:

Completing the training will not confer any right to the candidates for absorption in the Railway after successful completion.

How to Apply Online:

You must apply ONLINE on the RRC Northern Railway website: www.rrcnr.org.

  • Visit the Website: Click on the link "Engagement of Act Apprentice" ONLINE Application.
  • Registration: Fill in personal details like Name, Father's Name, Community, Mobile no., Email ID, and Date of Birth to register. You will receive a password for subsequent logins via email/SMS.
  • Login & Application: Log in to the "Candidate Dashboard" and complete the Application Form. 
  • Fee Payment: Pay the online fee (if not in an exempted category).
  • Upload Documents: Upload your required documents, including: 
  • Photograph, Signature, and Thumb Impression (size 10 to 50 KB in JPG format).
  • Educational, Caste, PWD, and Ex-SM Certificates. 
  • Final Submission: Submit the application and take a printout for your records.

Warning: You can submit only one application. Multiple applications from a single candidate will be summarily rejected, and the fee will not be refunded!
