AP Teachers Work Adjustment 2026 – Important FAQs Released

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department has issued a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the ongoing Teacher Work Adjustment Process 2026-27. These clarifications are intended to resolve doubts raised by teachers, Headmasters, and educational administrators across the state.

The FAQs cover topics such as exemption requests, surplus teacher adjustments, MTS vacancies, utilization of SGTs in High Schools, and district/division criteria for work adjustment.

Key Highlights

1. Mental Illness Certificates Not Accepted for Exemption

Teachers submitting mental illness certificates to seek exemption from work adjustment will not be considered. However, teachers having mentally challenged children under the preferential category must submit valid certificates issued by the competent authority.

Additionally, exemptions at the Mandal level will not be entertained. Only Divisional-level exemptions will be considered.

2. Revision in Enrollment Criteria

The department clarified that in High Schools with Primary Sections (Classes 1-5), if enrollment falls to 30 or below, the MPS teacher post allocation will be 1+2 instead of the earlier criteria.

3. MTS Vacancy Clarification

If an MTS teacher has been transferred from School X to School Y during counseling, only School X can be shown as vacant for work adjustment purposes. School Y cannot be treated as vacant since it will be occupied by the transferred teacher.

4. High School Plus Posts Cannot Be Shown as Vacant

Schools functioning with deficit staff under High School Plus categories cannot display those posts as vacant during the work adjustment process. The adjustment process is applicable only to schools functioning from Classes I to X.

5. Utilization of SGTs as Subject Teachers

Where surplus SGTs possessing relevant B.Ed methodology are available, districts may utilize them in High Schools as subject teachers after exhausting all eligible School Assistants (same subject and inter-subject categories).

6. PSHM Adjustment Not Allowed

PSHMs who previously worked as School Assistants and were converted as PSHMs during 2025 transfers cannot be adjusted as subject teachers in High Schools through the work adjustment process.

7. Old DyEO Divisions to Be Considered

For the work adjustment process, only the old Deputy Educational Officer (DyEO) divisions will be considered. This decision was taken due to administrative changes after district reorganization.

8. 13 Erstwhile Districts Applicable

The department clarified that only the 13 erstwhile districts of Andhra Pradesh will be considered for the work adjustment process.

Final Note

These FAQs provide crucial guidance for teachers participating in the AP Teacher Work Adjustment 2026 process. Teachers are advised to carefully review the latest instructions before submitting requests or opting for adjustments.

The clarification document was issued by A. Subba Reddy, Additional Director (Services), School Education Department, Andhra Pradesh.
